I have led a rather sheltered life these past fifty years, doing nothing exciting to tell about.

The day I graduated I went to work for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator.  This lasted only until they switched over to the dial system.

I took a bookkeeping course at Northwest College and went to work for a bulk dealer for a while, and then for Powell Bean Company as an assistant bookkeeper.

In 1960 I was fortunate enough to go to work for the Powell Police Department as a Dispatcher.  I really enjoyed that work and met a lot of nice people.  I met my husband, Carl Daugherty, from Miles City, MT, so consequently moved to Miles City.  I went to work for the Custer County Sheriff's Office as a Dispatcher/Secretary.  Carl and I decided we would like to try the motel business so we purchased a motel, but it was too confining.  We sold that and I went back to the Sheriff's Office until Carl retired from the Miles City Fire Department in 1975.

We moved back to Powell to be closer to my family and I was able to go back to work at the Police Department.  While in law enforcement we met many fine people that we still keep in touch with, we have started getting together with them about once a month for dinner.

When I left the Police Department I went to work at the Powell Nursing Home.  I enjoyed my position as an Activity Assistant.  Working closely with the residents was very enjoyable.  They are such special people and the history they have is wonderful.  I took some more courses at the college and became a certified Activity Assistant.

In 1999 I retired with a disability.  I now stay at home unless someone says "GO" and I am always ready.

I have enjoyed reuniting with some of our class that has moved back to Powell, Sandra, Mary, Bette, Virginia D, Virginia M, Cleda, Arlene and Marilyn (Cody).  We have formed a Red Hat Society with fourteen members.  We try to get together at least once a month for lunch and lots of laughs.  Some of us get together more often if someone says the magic word "GO."

I enjoy spending time with my Husband, nieces and nephews and other family.  Going to basketball games, wrestling and other sports the kids are involved in or other family events.  Mary and Sandra will go to ball games with me sometimes.  They are always fun.  Last but not least are my animals.  I have a little red toy poodle, Scarlet, and two indoor cats plus several feral cats I feed and take care of, I can't help myself.  I have started to make a doll house out of plastic canvas for my two little nieces.  It is quite a project.  I hope I can get it done before they grow out of dolls.

Here is hoping you all good health and happiness until we see each other again.
